SOUTHERN STRAWBERRY PUNCH BOWL CAKE

I have had trifle many times in my life, but I never made one myself. The pound cake, English custard, and strawberries (sometimes raspberries added in) made me feel like a princess when I was a child. This is much like trifle and I love it!

My mother-in-law brought me a Strawberry Punch Bowl Cake unexpectedly one-day years ago. My first thought was how beautiful it was in the beautiful glass bowl with all the layers – just like trifle. Once I tasted it, I liked the subtle differences from trifle, and it became one of my favorites! I have a weak spot for fresh berries, especially in desserts. I was excited when she wrote down the recipe and since it was so easy to prepare, I knew I would have no excuse not to make it soon and often!

You can make it in any large bowl, but glass bowls bring the element of elegance which I find fun even if I am making it for my family. At the time, I did not have a punch bowl, but I wanted one badly. I have vivid memories of the beautiful punch bowl my mom received as a wedding present; when I stumbled across a similar one, I bought it and I am so thankful I did!

This dessert is such a treat – Enjoy!
